A-Message-About-the-Coronavirus-Pandemic

Dear Parents,

There hasn't been a situation like the Coronavirus pandemic in our lifetimes. Our first priority is the health and safety of our students and teachers. Our second priority is making sure that the children receive the education they deserve.

We closed our centers as soon as the first cases hit the local area. We have since been ordered by the State of New Jersey to remain closed until the situation improves and the schools reopen

We quickly transitioned to online classes to make sure that your child's education is uninterrupted while their schools remain closed. Most classes are running very well and this is the chance for students to improve on their computer and typing skills as well. We have capped all two hour classes to 4 students and 1 hour classes to 3 students.

There will be hiccups along the way as we are all working together to overcome the challenges that we are forced to face, but we should not give up on our students. Our teachers and managers are working very hard to help you and your child overcome these hurdles. It is important that the students keep a consistent routine during a time of uncertainty; Consistent, daily practice is a key component of skill development.

Our staff is very dedicated and works very hard for your child's success. Their passion is our student's success. Even though the medium has changed from an in-person classroom to a live video classroom. The dedication and passion we are proud of has not changed. Therefore they deserve your cooperation and patience as we all collectively navigate this.

If you are happy with the online class, please let the teacher know. A word of encouragement will go a long way. If you have any issues or concerns, please let management know and we will collectively fix it.

This too shall pass, however none of us know how quickly. It is likely that the schools will be closed for the entire school year and your child should not be forced to lose the next 5 months of education.

Our staff is committed to make sure that your child gets the best education we can deliver.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Thanks

Genie Academy team

PS.

Some recommendations on how to make the online classes work really well

  1. Ensure your child has a headset. This allows for him/her to tune out distractions.
  2. Set up the google meet with the student and you should leave. This will allow the teacher to have control over her class.
  3. Using Chrome browser
  4. Logged in to the same gmail account that we sent the invite to
  5. Has books, abacus, pencils etc. ready to go.
